From the small and compact 20-foot A20 to the monster 24-foot A24, your Axis can produce a truly world-class wakesurf wave with very little tweaking. To get the most out of your Axis wakesurf wave, Axis Pro Johnny Stieg told us how he sets up his boats.
Remember, the Axis Performance Surf Platform was designed with simplicity in mind. Gone are the days of listing a boat from left to right to produce a surf wave. Now in just a few button pushes you’ll be riding the best wakesurf wave of your life with ease.
Here’s how to set up your Axis for wakesurfing:
Step 1. BALLAST
Fill all the ballast. To do this, press the four separate ballast buttons at the dash once so the light on the left lights up. Wait until you see water running out the side at the front and on either side of the boat by the engine hatches. To turn off, click until there are no lights on. To drain the ballast, press each button until the light on the right is on.
Step 2. SPEED
Set speed between 10.8-11.2 miles per hour, depending on how many people you have in the boat and how big the boat is. The more weight you have the more speed you can get away with. For example, if you have an A22 you are going to wakesurf at a slower speed than if you have an A24 because of the extra length and weight of the A24’s hull.
Step 3. POWER WEDGE III
Set Power Wedge III approximately in the middle for a starting point. For a steeper wave adjust your you Power Wedge 3 into higher settings, or to make the wave longer adjust your Power Wedge 3 to the lower settings
For the Auto-Set Wedge, simply drop it down and you’re ready to wakesurf.
Step 4. SURF GATE
Hit the left or right arrow to surf that respective side and you’re ready to go!
